The Jr. Dodgers will host their first Jr. Dodgers Training Day this Friday, June 26 at Dodger Stadium. The one-day training clinic will give children the chance to learn from Dodgers coaches and trainers and to play baseball on the field at Dodger Stadium. Dodger coaches Mariano Duncan, Kenny Howell, and Bob Schaefer and Assistant Athletic Trainer Todd Tomczyk will all help coach this Friday's clinic.
The day will begin with a chalk talk and baseball skills stations taught by Dodger coaches. After lunch, participants will play a game against each other on the field and the day will conclude with a pep talk from a current Dodger.
A total of four Jr. Dodgers Training Days are scheduled for children this summer, including this Friday. The others will be held on July 22, August 20, and August 21. Each clinic will go from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and costs $250 per Jr. Dodger. Each participant must be between the ages of seven and 12 and will receive a Dodgers batting practice jersey, a one-of-a-kind Dodgers mesh cap, and a ticket voucher good for select Sunday home games.
The Jr. Dodgers Kids Club, presented by Kaiser Permanente, was created this season. Membership is free and the club is open to children age 14 and under. In addition to the Jr. Dodgers Training Days, the club is also hosting three Jr. Dodgers Dance clinics this summer, which are taught by dance professionals and culminate with a pre-game, on-field performance.
Jr. Dodgers members also receive newsletters, special offers, and opportunities to enjoy first access to Jr. Dodgers experiences such as Kids Run the Bases, Kids Take the Field, and the chance to say "It's Time for Dodgers Baseball" on the field before a Dodgers game.
